#5 - Dr. Duncan Symons - Getting Inquiry Right

Dr. Duncan Symons talks about using inquiry effectively, dialogical approaches to teaching and teaching in rural settings.
In this episode we speak with Dr. Duncan Symons who currently teaches at the Melbourne Graduate School for Education, University of Melbourne. Duncan does research in Primary Mathematics Education, Higher Education and Teaching Methods.

Duncan is passionate about inquiry and we speak at length in this episode about practices around inquiry that can improve student learning. We also get into some discussion around rural education and how to improve student’s perceptions of themselves as Math & Science learners.

Although at the University of Melbourne now, Duncan started his career in the class. He understands the practical aspects of teaching and learning, this shows in our conversation.
